Why this matters

TPS is in flux. Venezuela and Honduras face terminations; Haiti remains valid while the Supreme Court decides. Verify your country.

Why it matters

TPS is the most fast-changing area of the immigration system in 2026. Several designations are in active litigation, and dates can change with each court ruling. What applies to one country does not apply to another.

Country summary (as of the review date)

  • Venezuela: the 2021 designation ended (November 7, 2025). Some work permits remain valid through October 2, 2026 depending on the document’s date.
  • Haiti: a court stayed the termination. The Supreme Court heard arguments on April 29, 2026; a decision is expected in early July 2026. Haiti’s TPS remains valid in the meantime.
  • Honduras: the termination was reinstated after an appeals-court ruling in February 2026.

What to do

  1. Verify your country’s official page and the exact date on your work permit (EAD).
  2. Do not act on rumors or on another country’s situation.
  3. Get a legal screening soon: many TPS holders qualify for other options.
